Last week Youngest had her 8th grade dance. When she arrived home from school she was treated to her own personal glam squad in the form of Oldest and I 🙂
Oldest does beautiful makeup so she dolled her right up. While she was doing that I was doing nails lol. Our schedule had been so busy she wasn’t able to “get them done” so the night before we picked up this in her shoe color and tried it out..it worked well!
I had Youngest wear her hair curled to school that day so all I had to do was add her fishtail lace braid, small twist, and pin it all together with a double bun before touching up her wispy curls! While I added some sparkly barrettes, Oldest painted toenails and …..voila..gorgeous!
Well, we have one more major test to get though here (Oldest has her World History AP test this week) and then summer fever will kick in for sure! In the meantime we’re keeping ourselves busy.
Last week I was a judge for the National History Fair State competition in Austin. Youngest came with me for the weekend and we got to spend some fun times together 🙂
We found a fun and DELICIOUS burger place on our way outside of Bastrop (we even stopped here on our way home, we loved it that much!)
Friday we spent some time at Barton Springs, the water was freezing but the weather was nice so we braved it:
The next morning we grabbed breakfast at our hotel then headed out to judge the NHD projects (where else do you get Texas shaped waffles)
After judging ended, Youngest and I did a little exploring of the UT campus. She decided it was a little too big for her liking. Next we walked up to the Capitol building. Youngest hadn’t been there since she was really little so it was all brand new to her again 🙂
After literally hiking and driving all around the city we were exhausted so we had a relaxed night (Youngest was down for the count around 6:30 pm).
On Sunday we got up early again so we could visit the Hamilton Pool Preserve. This place was really amazing! The hike to the pool was almost magical, we had fun imagining the fairies and leprechauns that could so easily hide here….
Then we finally got down to the pool…
we explored, it’s not very big but it is super cool! This water was even colder than Barton Springs, especially since the air wasn’t all that warm, but Youngest said this was a bucket list place so she was going in 🙂
We had a fantastic weekend in Austin!
This weekend our summer swim team season began for both girls…
so it is now crazy time with all events overlapping..swimming, diving, ballet, school, work, etc. etc.!
Hope you’re having a great week 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Youngest went to a party with a Hawaiian theme which gave up the perfect opportunity to try and make a flower crown! Oldest did her makeup, I made the crown using dried flowers, floral tape and wire, while Youngest put together her final beautiful look 🙂
🙂 Happy Spring 🙂
They all get together and they scream and shout! Or rather Superheros and Dark Angels do! Despite having an unusually low turnout for Halloween trick-or-treat this year the girls made out like bandits and had a great night. Youngest, and most of her friends, were tutu clad superheros ❤
And Oldest, well she went through several ideas..most of which scared me to death..
It’s a brisk 50 degrees to start off November so it finally feels like fall. Both girls are already out and about with their Saturday activities 🙂 Hope y’all had a great Halloween! Happy Fall 🙂
